Given the great challenge of urban transformation and the cross-cutting integration of climate action in municipal policies, many LAC cities have expressed their ambition for systemic transformation, collaborative work and cross -learning for circular economies strategies and processes.
In the frame of COP28 in Dubai, the DG International Partnership puts circular economy as a tool to tackle climate change on the agenda. This event will bring together senior city experts and policymakers from selected cities in the LAC region and European cities to showcase best practice and provide a two-way opportunity for knowledge sharing and networking in circular economy, to achieve objectives that cannot be achieved individually, through and incremental approach to innovation.
The Deep Demonstration mechanism is fully aligned with the EU mission and aims to generate actionable intelligence for local policy and decision makers on how to manage system change in the current context of urgency, diversity and uncertainty. It entails the design and promotion of the circular transition of key value chains and economic sectors through a coordinated and coherent national approach based on international best practice. The aim is to achieve a cohesive transition to a resilient circular model and has been already successfully applied in some European cities can reduce future economic, environmental, and social costs, while creating local added value.
