The EDD attracts 6000 people and 1500 organisations, eager to take part and meet other stakeholders. It is Europe's premiere forum on international affairs and development cooperation. Food security, inclusive growth, and the engagement of the private sector in development will be the main topics discussed in this year's edition.

EU Dev Days 2012

The knowledge sharing team of capacity4dev.eu will gather interesting points of view and experiences from participants and cover different events such as, among others, a high-level panel on Women Entrepreneurship in the Middle East and North Africa following the Arab spring and another one on the role of the private sector in transforming African economies.

Speakers at EDD will include European Commission (EC) President Jose Manuel Barroso, EC Vice-President Catherine Ashton as well as European Commissioners Andris Piebalgs (Development) and Kristalina Georgieva (International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis).

Six Presidents of partner countries, including recently elected President of Senegal Macky Sall, and dozens of ministers have also confirmed their participation.

Members of European Parliament present will include Eva Jolly, Chairperson of the Committee on Development, and Louis Michel, Co-President of the Joint Parliamentary Assembly ACP-EU.

The ACP Group of States will be represented by Secretary General Mohamed Ibn Chambas.

Development institutions such as the International Finance Corporation, the World Bank, the European Investment Bank and USAID will also be represented at top level as well as top members of the business community, the academic world and the civil society.

During two days, the participants will have an outstanding opportunity to exchange ideas and best practices related to development.

A live web streaming of the panels will be available on the EDD website, a useful tool for those who cannot attend. You are also welcome to use capacity4dev.eu and its different groups to share and discuss the EDD before, during and after the event.
