We teamed up with EU member states present in Honduras, with international financial institutions that were interested and already working in this area, and of course, with Honduran authorities [...]. It's a Global Gateway initiative about circular economy which includes many pillars related to how we can decontaminate this lake and let it stay decontaminated. Therefore, we are working on water management, waste management, access to green finance for small and medium enterprises in order to green the economy around the lake, but we are also working with communities and municipalities, in order to offer environmental education and implement other initiatives connecting with people.

One of the biggest challenges are the different tiers of governance that have to be coordinated in order for the projects to be implemented at the right level, for the right impact. One of the main pillars of our programme and the added value that we bring with our project through non-reimbursable funding [...] is to build that coordination.

Thank you for sharing this great project development. It's a good insight on how to empower local people and partner with EU Member States and Honduran authorities.. This will create better opportunities and an awareness of the challenges faced when delivering a Global Gateway Project.
Focusing on narrowing the global investment gap worldwide. A strategy to boost smart, clean and secure links in digital, energy, and transport sectors. A pillar that will strengthen health, education and research systems globally.
However, as an insight it's important to mention, to invest in both mitigation and climate resilience, as well as in clean energy, which is crucial to sustain a circular economy. The environmental issues causing wastage and pollution needs to be looked into thoroughly. Applying a sustainable frameworks that integrates environmental, social, and governance (ESG) as core values to reduce risks and meet stakeholder's expectations.
Thank you for reading .

Thank you for your thoughtful comment and for highlighting key dimensions of the Global Gateway approach. As you rightly point out, investing in climate mitigation and resilience, clean energy and sustainable economic models is essential to supporting long-term impact. The lake initiative in Honduras integrates water and waste management, access to green finance for SMEs, and close cooperation with local authorities and communities, in line with these principles. We appreciate your engagement and contribution to the discussion.
