Published on The Guardian website in June 2015, an expert panel reviews 10 ways in which the EU can lead by example and reduce global poverty and inequality, namely: realise that European aid can’t solve all the world’s problems; play a very important role to play during the Financing for Development Summit in Addis Ababa in July 2015; dedicate more than 0.7% of GNP to overseas aid; understand the limitations of private finance; create trade policies that don’t hurt developing countries; use the SDGS as a rallying point for progressive forces; show leadership on the SDGs; treat developing countries as equal partners; and stop letting domestic concerns dwarf international issues.
