2 July 2021: Agroecology day with INTPA F2 & F3!
Discussion details
Agroecology is usually described to be at the same time a science, a set of practices and a social movement. It has a fundamental role to play in the sustainable transformation of agrifood systems worldwide.
Come and learn more about this fascinating approach in two events organised on 2 July!
Two events to show how agroecology fits perfectly into the transformative agenda of the Green Deal, and amongst others with the Farm to Fork and Biodiversity Strategies. Hence how it can be factored into the NDICI programming responses in line with EU strategic objectives.
From 9 to 11 am - Webinar - The role of Agroecology in achieving the Green Deal's transformational objectives. (in English with interpretation into French)
Why is an agroecological transformation of agrifood systems necessary so needed? How does indeed agroecology contribute to mitigating and adapting to climate change, stemming biodiversity loss, as well as halting and reversing land and water degradation?
The President of Sri Lanka, Mr Emile Frison from the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES-Food), Dr Fergus Sinclair from the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR-ICRAF), the “Alliance pour l’Agroécologie en Afrique de l’Ouest” (3AO), the East Africa network of agro-ecological entrepreneurs will share their analysis.
From 12.30 to 2 pm – InfoPoint – The effects of agroecology. Why are metrics needed? (in English)
The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), the GRET and the Transformative Platform for Agro-ecology (TPP) will explain why it is so important to define and use appropriate metrics, and what is already being done. Discussions with, and questions to the speakers are strongly encouraged.
