In the context of the European Year for Development (EYD), UNIDO presents stories from Côte d’Ivoire on PACIR, a EU-funded project which main objective is to strengthen the competitiveness of the Ivorian economy and facilitate its integration into the regional and global economy.

The program includes four outcomes that focus on (1) improving the business environment, (2) strengthening the competitiveness of exporting companies and improving compliance with international standards (3) trade facilitation, and (4) improvement of economic infrastructure.

Impact

  • Capacity building of more than 1,000 representatives of 239 SME and 60 representatives of public and private institutions on industrial upgrading, export consortia and quality infrastructure
  • 7 export consortia legally established
  • Almost 30 SME members of export consortia have improved their productivity and are accessing new regional and European markets
  • A National Upgrading and Restructuring Programme formulated, validated by local authorities and implemented on a pilot basis
  • 3 families of standards homologated and published in the official journal.
  • 4 laboratories strengthened and 2 assisted for their accreditation
