Dear DEAR projects,

The European Commission is encouraging EU-funded projects to no longer default to creating yet another project website or social media channel.

What alternatives have you come across and/or tried?

All ideas are welcome - the more effective, proven and innovative, the better : )

Many communication specialists insist that social media (SM) accounts for an individual/role (rather than an institution, programme or project) are much more effective, as they can be more personal - even while remaining professional. Especially on platforms like X (with so many stated opinions and quotes) or LinkedIn (which builds on professional-personal contacts).

How do you balance individual, project and organisation accounts?

Does your staff use their personal-private accounts to promote project work?

The first proven approach is to simply use local partner organisation's existing websites and social media accounts.
DEAR project "I Am European", for example, did not have any of their own channels, but got closer to their target communities and posted in local languages. They decentralised DEAR project comms via their consortia partners' communication specialists, languages and accounts.

This is a good one, indeed! Another proven approach to reach another audience segment (policy makers, international cooperation professionals, etc) is to use the channels of Capacity4dev, including social media accounts, and newsletters.

How it works?

DEAR projects need to be active on Capacity4dev and add new content (e.g. events, discussions, documents, etc.). Our team will choose the best content on a weekly basis and disseminate it via our channels.

Alternatively, DEAR projects can reach out to me for support or synergies via the contact form on my profile https://capacity4dev.europa.eu/members/dimitrios-chaidas_en.
