Brussels Development Briefing on ‘Nutrition security in ACP countries: The role of Agriculture’

On the 15th of June 2011, CTA organised a Briefing on ‘Nutrition security in ACP countries’ in cooperation with International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), , the European Commission (DG DEVCO), the, Concord, the ACP Secretariat and various media.
This Briefing discussed key challenges in nutrition in ACP countries and the role agriculture can play in addressing nutritional security. In particular, after discussing current food, agriculture and nutrition challenges, the speakers explored the link existing between nutrition and agriculture. Finally, ways ahead to strengthen political commitment to nutrition security were also discussed. Speakers included Dr Jose Graziano da Silva, current director of the FAO, who discussed his Zero Hunger project in Brazil.
