Budget Support Scale and LoCAL: Where Potential Converges
Discussion details
At a recent gathering in Brussels, staff from the EU and UNCDF came together to explore country experiences with budget support in decentralised contexts and the LoCAL mechanism’s Performance Based Climate Resilience Grants.
Participants examined how the LoCAL mechanism and budget support activities can deliver mutually beneficial results and identified models for replication in other developing countries.
Bhutan

Bhutan is one of the first two countries to pilot and embrace the LoCAL mechanism and highlights the potential of the model through EU budget support scale-up.
