The EU has significant experience in promoting the green economy domestically, notably through its environment policy and the Europe 2020 growth strategy. Many of the initiatives put forward by the EU in this context, focus on thematic issues that are also prioritised in international cooperation on green economy, such as green jobs, greening SMEs, Sustainable Consumption and Production, eco-innovation, and resource efficiency. This offers scope for synergies, as well as lessons that can contribute to international cooperation actions on the green economy.
