The Network of Arab Arthouse Screens (NAAS) and Cimatheque, in cooperation with ArteEast, announced the open call for participation in the second edition of the regional Arab Arthouse Cinema Workshop, taking place in Cairo 4-8 June 2015.

Discover a wide set of databases, resources, news, info-graphics, etc. - on www.medculture.eu - You can also follow up on latest updates via Med Culture social media channels. This group will continue to be used for collaborative purposes (gathering views and ideas, exchanging lessons…) and for the main material of the programme that we would like to keep on the long term. Deadline for application submissions is20 February 2015.

The sessions, presentations, case studies, panels and roundtable discussions with regional and international guests will focus on:

• Understanding the mechanisms and landscape of film circulation and distribution regionally and internationally
• Alternative film programming strategies, with a specific focus on Arab film programming
• Creating and managing film libraries and archives
• Exploring models and projects of film spaces in the region and internationally
• Future collaborative projects among participating spaces

A parallel public screening program will run throughout the course of the week.

Eligible Candidates must:

• Be involved in the development of content for one or more film spaces in an Arabic speaking country (e.g. programmers, managers, archivists, communication & press coordinators, etc.)
• Have some experience working with an arthouse cinema, a cine club, or a cultural entity presenting a public film programme in the region
• Demonstrate an intention to develop a practice around alternative cinema management, programming and content development
• Be fluent in Arabic, English or French

Please note that:

• There are no restrictions on age or nationality
• Travel and accommodation will be covered by the workshop
• Accepted candidates will be asked to pay a 75 USD fee (to be paid either by the participant or the space)
• Applications from candidates working at/with the same entity are welcome
• Participants in last year’s workshop are also welcome to apply
