Capacity Building Materials for Budget Work
Discussion details

The International Budget Partnership (IBP) has posted a number of free materials online for anyone seeking to host workshops on using budgets as a tool to enhance advocacy and research. These materials are intended for trainers and facilitators to be used to help other advocates of open budgets.
The series’ goal is to provide guidance on how to run workshops on budget-related topic
s as well as relevant materials and tasks for the workshop. IBP uses an adult education approach, or andragogy, to facilitate learning. The workshops are highly participatory and rely on good preparation by the facilitator and strong interaction and reflection by participants. Please adapt these materials to use and for your context and remember to reference the International Budget Partnership as your source.
IBP aims to ensure that government budgets are more responsive to the needs of poor and low-income people in society and, accordingly, to make budget systems more transparent and accountable to the public. Our experience shows that when ordinary people have information, skills, and opportunities to participate, broader public engagement in government budget processes can promote substantive improvements in governance and poverty.
