capacity4dev.eu Highlights Food Security

Dear capacity4dev.eu members,

Last week we integrated the ROSA (Réseau Opérationnel de Sécurité Alimentaire) network into the Food & Nutrition Security group on capacity4dev.eu. Housing all the ROSA resources, this is now the largest document library on the platform.

To mark this achievement, this week is a special “Food Security Week”. This will give us the opportunity to focus on the latest news from the development community on the fight against hunger.

Food security-related Voices & Views will focus on sustainable agriculture and how it is regarded as a key area in the battle against hunger, with concrete examples from the field.

We will travel to Zambia...
we have received an interesting contribution from an expert working in the EU Delegation to this mineral-rich country, where a consensus has emerged on the necessity to use agriculture to reduce poverty. 

... and to Ethiopia
where an Irish NGO has developed a “Potato Centre of Excellence”. 

Last but not least, capacity4dev.eu will also focus on the Scaling-Up Nutrition (SUN) movement, which is to become one of the post-2015 Millennium Goal’s driving forces, uniting leading institutions such as the UN and the EU, large organisations such as Médecins Sans Frontières and over 30 national governments in their fight against hunger. Capacity4dev.eu will report on their latest senior level meeting held in Brussels this month, and the actions they are taking to treat hunger as a matter of development rather than as a matter of urgency.
