CDF funds for agricultural development in Guyana
Discussion details
Guyana Wednesday signed a multi-million dollar loan with the Caribbean Development Fund (CDF) that will be used to assist more than 150 farmers in several regions as a result of improved agricultural infrastructure.
Finance Minister, Winston Jordan, said the agreement is yet another demonstration of the emerging relationship between the government and the CDF and said he hoped that the project will take an example from the previous CDF funded projects where roads to various farming lands were upgraded.
Jordan said the new project also supports the green agenda of the David Granger government as well as the green pathway which is being touted by President Granger.
CDF chief executive officer, Rodinald Soomer, who signed the US$12.43 million loan agreement with Jordan, said he was pleased to be here during the Christmas Season to sign the first agreement of CDF’s second subscription cycle.
