____________
Dear all,
As the co-convenors of the capacity development thematic e-discussion on “Developing capacities for sustainable change: Definitions, key terms and concepts”, the CGIAR Capacity Development Community of Practice (CoP) and Capacity.org are very pleased to invite you to join this important online e-discussion series. The aim of these discussions is to develop a peer sharing platform for professionals who are developing capacities across agricultural innovation systems and to highlight new learning about effective ways to transform research outputs into development outcomes.
This discussion comes at the mid-point of the Year for Agriculture and Food Security for Africa. It also marks the last few months before we reach the end point for the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). As we enter into 2015, we are therefore more conscious to review our activities and align our thinking towards a new development framework that will promote sustainable change.
How to participate?
Registration site here Please click the link and follow the instructions to register. This website, owned by the CGIAR consortium, will be hosting a series of online, moderated e-discussions to support strategies on capacity development for CGIAR and partners. New e-discussions will be launched on the site every two months, led by expert moderators from the CGIAR group, Capacity.org and other partners.
This is a public, open-access discussion forum and contributions are welcome from all those with an interest in developing capacities across agricultural innovation systems worldwide. This is also an opportunity to support the development of the newly formed CGIAR Capacity Development (CapDev) Community of Practice (CoP) and to influence thinking around mainstreaming capacity development in institutions and organizations to empower individuals across the entire system. You are encouraged to share as an individual or on behalf of groups or networks that you represent.
The first discussion kicks off on Friday August 1st 2014, on the theme of “Developing capacities for sustainable change: Definitions, key terms and concepts.”
We hope that you will join in the discussions taking place on the site over the coming months, and will encourage your networks and constituencies to also participate.
We request you to also share this information widely.
Very best regards,
Co-convenors for the first e-discussion:
Mehmood Hassan, Head of Capacity Development Unit, World Agroforestry Centre, ICRAF
Heinz Greijn, Editor, Capacity.org

Organizers for the first e-discussion:
Iddo Dror, Head of Capacity Development, ILRI
Diana Brandes – van Dorresteijn, Global Capacity Development Specialist, ILRI
