                A decade ago, companies, financial institutions and governments made a pledge to achieve net-zero deforestation by 2020. This wasn’t met. Now there’s another deadline, agreed by countries at COP28: to halt and reverse deforestation by 2030. This is a deadline that no one can afford to miss. But if we continue to rely on voluntary action by companies and financial institutions, it will be nothing more than a pipe dream.
