Commissioner Mimica and Kyrgyz Vice Prime Minister Valeriy Dil sign the Financing Agreement of the Sector Reform Contract for Social Protection

On March 27, Commissioner Mimica and Kyrgyz Vice Prime Minister Valeriy Dil signed the first Financing Agreement under Kyrgyzstan's 2014 – 2020 MIP.

​The Financing Agreement concerns a € 30 million Sector Reform Contract for Social Protection with the objective to help the government of the Kyrgyz Republic in its efforts to improve social protection. The new programme consolidates achievements of EU support in the sector in recent years: making more and better social services available to some of the most vulnerable parts of the population, in particular children.

The signing ceremony of the Financing Agreement for the new bilateral programme "Sector Reform contract: Social Protection Kyrgyzstan" took place at the margin of Kyrgyz President Atambaev's visit to Europe. President Atambaev met with Presidents Juncker, Schulz, and Tusk as well as the King of the Belgians. His visit also includes encounters with political leaders of France, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The 2014 – 2020 for the Kyrgyz Republic had been signed by Commissioner Mimica, too. This first signing ceremony took place on November 17, 2014 in the presence of the Commissioner and the Kyrgyz Minister of Foreign Affairs at the margin of the EU – Kyrgyz Cooperation Council.
