Discussion details

Created 06 February 2015

Yesterday (5 February 2015) the European Commission issued a Communication to the European Parliament, the Council, the European Economic and Social Committee and the Committee of the Regions on a global partnership for the post-2015 development agenda.

The Communication - "A Global Partnership for Poverty Eradication and Sustainable Development after 2015" - reaffirms 2015 as a pivotal year for global sustainable development and poverty eradication, and sets out the European Commission's view on the overarching principles and key elements of a new global partnership that is needed to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Communication, which follows earlier Communications (“A Decent Life for All: ending poverty and giving the world a sustainable future” and “A decent life for all: from vision to collective action”) and Council Conclusions (“An overarching post-2015 framework” and “A transformative post-2015 agenda”), will inform EU positions in preparations for the Financing for Development conference in Addis Ababa and the UN post-2015 summit in New York later in 2015.
