Created 28 May 2015

The 9th edition of European Development Days 2015 (EDD2015) will take place from 3-4th June at Tour & Taxi, Brussels. CTA, in partnership with GIZ, UNIDO, COLEACP and SNV shall host a lab session dedicated to  Small Farmers Big Business (SFBB) on the theme of “value chains, value gains”. The SFBB Partnerships’ vision is that sustainable development must go hand in hand with the engagement of the private sector, with the aim to achieve food security in African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries. The ‘value chains for value gains’ session prioritises an inclusive open-minded debate on how to overcome the complex challenges of domestic, regional and international markets. A stronger collaboration between donors, developing countries and private sector is necessary to accelerate growth in agriculture and the food sector through building capacities of private entrepreneurs, commercial and smallholder farmers alike. Key speakers include Viwanou Gnassounou, Assistant Secretary General - ACP Secretariat, Jean-Pierre Halkin, Head of Unit for Rural Development, Food Security, Nutrition, Directorate-General for Development and Cooperation – EuropeAid and Apollo Owuor, Director for Agriculture and Corporate Affairs, Europe-Africa-Caribbean-Pacific Liaison Committee. The debate will be moderated by Isolina Boto, CTA Brussels' Manager.
