Dialogue with the community is key to Social Participation Strategy

Start the implementation of the Strategy for Social Participation for the Management of the Forest Heritage, the meeting was conducted with the Community Council of Santa Cecilia in the department of Risaralda.

In the meeting that took place in Santa Cecilia, on 27 March, with the participation of the Office of Environmental Education CARDER, Aldea Global and  The Forest Governance Project in Colombia, members of the Council community Strategy and met the strategy and approach.

Of equal way the meeting allowed to the equipment of the Forest Governance project, to know first-hand the strengths and weaknesses in the administration of the forest resource that has the Community Advice.

This way, in the visit problematic several and potentials were identified in the resolution of the forest conflicts, the need appeared of that could carry out expedition of safe conducts from Santa Cecilia, the possibility of supporting with technical assistance the producers of cocoa and the need to initiate conversations with a rafters' association that is constituted by means of the Community Advice. It is important to emphasize that the Community Advice of Santa Cecilia, is the valid actor of communities in this area of the department.
