Discussion details

The European Commission's Directorate-General for International Cooperation and Development (DG DEVCO) is about to launch a new version of the EU Aid Explorer, which will be available as of Friday 28th October. The main changes: enhanced functionalities and an improved user experience.

With this new version, DEVCO aims at increasing the transparency on project activities implementation and disbursements, making it easier for citizens to find information about development cooperation achievements.

The new website contains a more detailed configuration of the Project Activity page, which provides the users with:

  • a wider and more organized range of information;
  • a closer link between sustainable development goals (SDGs) and project activities;
  • a more precise overview on country expenditures (including on thematic and regional programmes) and project state of play.

Laurent Sarazin, head of unit of DEVCO A.2, adds: “The EU Aid Explorer is our key tool to foster transparency and hence accountability on EU ODA spending. It is also becoming instrumental in promoting the visibility of Team Europe actions worldwide. I hope the new features will further expand the success of the website”.

What is EU Aid Explorer?

The EU Aid Explorer visualizes all development activities and humanitarian assistance of Team Europe, based on Commission internal data, and, for Member States activities, on the OECD Creditor Reporting System (CRS) and the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) standard.

With over 2000 visits monthly, the EU Aid Explorer, launched in 2019 by DEVCO, has been very successful in enhancing transparency. It is also very useful for informed decision-making in our partner countries.
