Discussion details

Created 16 June 2017

Last year the EUD in Syria developed a database of projects for the EU, EU MS and other interested donors for their programming period. This simple exercise resulted in a database that was shared to all participating donors and helped identify in which sectors there are high risks for duplication and where there are good opportunities to improve impact through a joined up approach. We are currently finalizing a similar exercise for Iraq for the period 2015-2020 and plan to do so for Yemen too. Thanks to all the colleagues for taking the time to participate and add information. If interested, please contact me if you would like to see the methodology and get suggestions on how to do so in other countries too.

Hi Alex,

I'm interested as to how you are updating it? "Real-time" or is there an exercise at regular intervals?

Also, is it shared with government and other stakeholders? Or only amongst donors?

I am thinking about how to involve external stakeholders during implementation of strategy (as opposed to preparation or monitoring/evaluation)

Thanks

Hi Nathalie, the challenge with these mappings is to compare 'like with like' data so the approach we used was to request data from participating donors and then only use self-reported data. This is done at a regular interval - ideally annually.

It should be shared with government and other stakeholders.

I will email you with more details.

Alex

Dear Alexander,

I am very interested in this mapping of donors and any mapping of donors in arab countries. Could you plaese share with me the latest updated version? Do you by chance have any idea where I could find mapping of donors in arab countries?

Thank you in advance,
