Today 1.5 billion people live without access to energy. This means they have no electric water pumps, cannot use many medical appliances and have no lights to study by. 2.5 billion people still use traditional biofuels for booking, but this has a negative impact on both their health and the environment.

Paolo Ciccarelli, Head of Unit for Water, Energy, and Infrastructures in DEVCO explains why his unit is organising a session at the European Development Days on forging new partnerships for investment in energy access in Africa.

The session will take place on 3 June at Tours et Taxi from 16:00 – 17:30. For more information on registration please visit the European Development Days website.
