Sustainable Cocoa Programme 馃嚚馃嚠

The European Union is the world鈥檚 largest importer of cocoa. In C么te d鈥橧voire, Ghana and Cameroon, cocoa farming is the main source of livelihoods for six to seven million farmers and contributes indirectly to the livelihoods of a further 40 to 50 million people. A large proportion of cocoa farmers in these countries live below the poverty line.

EU-FLEGT 馃嚚馃嚠

As part of a broad effort to halt deforestation and to increase forest cover to 20%, C么te d鈥橧voire has taken a series of steps to improve governance of its forest sector. As part of these efforts, C么te d鈥橧voire entered the process of negotiating a Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA) with the European Union in 2013. Since that time, formal negotiations have concluded and the agreement was signed on 19 February 2024 by C么te d鈥橧voire and the EU.
