EU/JRC/IET/REU AFRETEP PROJECT WORKSHOPS
Discussion details
The European Commission's project RENAF/AFRETEP (African Renewable Energy Technology Platform) organised three workshops in Kampala (October 2011), Ouagadougou (November 2011) and Cape Town (February 2012).
The events were scheduled for improving the scientific/ technological capacity and information about use and availability of renewable energy. First priority was the development of the African rural electrification.
African and European speakers presented scientific and economic reports about several type of RE: solar, hydro, bio and wind, and a session was dedicated to the microfinance. More then 90 participants from 30 African countries attended the workshops and had presented several national case studies. All presentations have been already posted into the AFRETEP Working Group (www.afretep.org).
Now, the first "virtual workshop" of Kampala is also at your disposal on-line. Each presentation and case study have been downloaded and synchronised both as document Power Point and video recording of the speaker. So, you can have a look to the presentations and case studies as if you had been there. We think it could be useful for your own knowledge and as a didactic tool.
