The European Green Deal: Farm to Fork and Biodiversity Strategies

A European Green Deal is one of the priorities of the European Commission and on 20 May 2020 two important Communications were launched:

The Farm-to-Fork strategy sets concrete targets to reduce the use and risk of pesticides, fertilizers and the sales of antimicrobials and aims to reach 25% of agricultural land under organic farming by 2030.

The new EU Biodiversity strategy brings nature back into our lives and puts Europe’s biodiversity on the path to recovery by 2030.

Both strategies contain important international elements – they reaffirms the EU's determination to lead by example. The Farm to Fork Strategy aims to promote a global transition to sustainable food systems, in close cooperation with its international partners.
