FLEGT process highlighted in new timber design exhibition
Discussion details
The Timber Trade Federation (TTF) has presented the winners of its design competition, Conversations about Climate Change, in a virtual exhibition. Created using tropical hardwoods from countries involved in the European Union’s Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) Action Plan, the six winning ‘conversation piece’ installations each reflect on the intricate relationship we have with the natural world. The competition aims to stimulate discussion about the role that legal timber can play in addressing the challenges posed by climate change.
‘Our competition asked architects and designers to respond to tropical timber, think about the materials they usually work with, and consider how the role of materials specifier is vital for implementing change’, told David Hopkins, TTF’s CEO.
The winning entries can be viewed online with a 360-degree tour complete with commentary about FLEGT and interviews with the winning designers.
