RECOFTC - The Center for People and Forests has recently released a new policy brief on Forests and Natural Disaster Risk Reduction in Asia and the Pacific.

This policy brief, produced jointly with the Food and Agriculture Organization's Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, provides a concise overview of the ways in which forests mitigate disasters, ranging from tsunamis and floods to landslides, particularly when they are a component of an integrated approach to disaster risk reduction, along with appropriate land-use planning, mitigation measures and infrastructure, and early warning systems.
