The organization Fruit Logistica, the fresh produce sector’s most important trading platform, has come to Santo Domingo to host a series of conferences for professionals in Dominican Republic’s agro-export industry, aimed at surpassing its US$364.0 million income in 2014. Titled "International Projection of Dominican horticulture" 70 Dominican companies from numerous horticulture production exporters attended the event. Dominican Republic Export and Investment Center (CEI-RD) International Office manager Emily Ramirez opened the activity with relevant agro sector export data, such as the US$364.0 million income in 2014, stressing fresh organic bananas as the country’s icon export product.

Ramirez called Fruit Logistica’s assistance an "essential step" for producers to learn of the export mechanism while acknowledging the German market’s appeal for the Caribbean country. The lineup of speakers at the session featured Silvia De Juanes, Fair communication director for Spanish-speaking countries; Jose Horacio López, manager of the Dominican group Banamiel; Frank Ocampo, head of shopping area of the Dutch Caribbean importer The Greenery, and Lorena Valenzuela, CEI-RD New Business specialist.
