Tourism is the lifeblood of many Pacific economies, and agritourism provides a promising avenue for diversification and trade growth. In light of this, CTA and the Government of Vanuatu, together with IICA and PIPSO organised a workshop on policy setting for improved linkages between agriculture, trade and tourism in Port-Vila, Vanuatu from 25-27 May 2016. 

The highlights of the event centred on opportunities to support linkages between agriculture, health and tourism, covering the following:

- Trends and evolution of agritourism and food tourism
- Growth potential for tourism in Pacific island countries
- Opportunities for Vanuatu's agrifood sector in tourism related markets
- Incraesed involvement from the public sector for an agritourism policy
- Promoting agritourism through value addition, quality, branded produts
and the role of Chefs as linkages between sustainable toursim, agricutlrue, nutrition and cuisine
