The Lebanese Association for Plastic Arts, Ashkal Alwan has announced the fifth edition of its Home Workspace Program (HWP). The arts study program titled "From the Miraculous to the Mundane" will take place in Beirut between October 2015-July 2016 and will offer workshops and seminars that will explore "different forms of mischief, and the additional gestures we deploy as we act and have to act in the kingdom of the real".

Home Workspace, launched by Ashkal Alwan in 2011, is a 2000m² multipurpose facility in Beirut dedicated to contemporary artistic practices, research, production and education. Home Workspace Program is held in this facility with the aim of developing an interdisciplinary approach to arts education in the Arab world. The tuition-free program is open to emerging artists and cultural practitioners wishing to develop their critical skills and practice in a supportive environment.

HWP 2015–16 will host workshops led by Resident Professors Ghassan Salhab,Minerva Cuevas,Sandra Noeth, andRaqs Media Collective. There will be seminars byAhmad Beydoun,Kodwo Eshun,Zainab Bahrani, and Finbarr Barry Flood, and a Preface organized byAli Cherri. This year's Resident Artist/Advisor will be Haig Aivazian.

Alongside the workshops, the program includes a series of seminars meant to complement fellows’ general theoretical and art historical knowledge. The fellows will receive feedback on their work via meetings with the year’s Resident Artist/Advisor, and via group critiques with outside guests. The fellows also have opportunities to present their work to the public on open studio days.
