In order for Sustainable Development to be acheived, social, economic, and environmental pillars need to be integrated in policy. Here, the importance of the environmental aspect in particular for post-2015 development agenda and the Millennium Development Goals is discussed by Prof. Joseph Alcamo.

About the Speaker:

Prof. Joseph Alcamo is Chief Scientist of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the first Chief Scientist within the UN system. He has been the lead author for the IPCC reports for 14 years and has worked to strengthen the interface between scientists and policymakers so that research priorities in science reflect the needs of society at large. While at UNEP, he has also helped found the Climate and Clean Air Coalition and the Future Earth framework for global change research.
