What Is the Youth Global Platform on HIV/AIDS?

The Youth Global Platform on HIV/AIDS is an online adolescents and youth‑centered network designed to formatively - empower adolescents and young people—especially those living with or affected by HIV—to engage, learn, and lead in the fight against HIV/AIDS. It focuses on peer‑to‑peer support, enabling youth to share information, discuss testing and treatment experiences, and challenge stigma through mutual learning and collaboration.

Key Ways the Platform Enhances Youth Response

Peer-to-Peer Support & Information Sharing

  • The platform enables young people to compare diagnoses and treatment experiences with peers worldwide.
  • It fosters informed, empowered health decisions by facilitating collaborative relationships between youth and healthcare systems.

Youth as Agents of Change

  • By positioning adolescents and young people as key stakeholders, through ownership, @YGPOH encourages them to actively reverse HIV's impact.
  • It emphasizes their role in shaping norms, reclaiming dignity, and advancing rights for those living with HIV.

A noted activity includes engaging with youth audiences via Radio Nigeria, Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Voice of Nigeria (VON), —discussing sexual health, HIV awareness, and adolescent concerns in Abuja and beyond and Road show campaign covered by Nigeria Television Authority to sensitize the young people and adolescents in rural populations in the West African Country that the platform is for them and a strategic content created to support our upward mobility argument that Universal Health Coverage is their right and it is economically smart, morally right and urgently needed in their communities. https://capacity4dev.europa.eu/discussions/youth-global-platform-hivaids-radio-nigeria-engagement-hivaids-young-people_en
