For several years now, deforestation has inexorably spread in Madagascar, and the phenomena of migration linked to insecurity, the absence of opportunities and the degradation of production infrastructure and exacerbated by climatic phenomena have led to an acceleration of the degradation, even in protected areas with high biodiversity endemicity.
The extent of regeneration is immense, however there are inspiring initiatives for future interventions, in the context of landscape restoration, holistic support to communities and enrichment of conservation approaches. The initiative TANIALA carried out by young people with high level of expertise is part of them.
They combine an in-depth understanding of the social and environmental context, and the development of more resilient practices and nature-based solutions founded on the capacities of communities to restore and maintain their production base, especially soil, in a context of increasing pressures.
