India, Fiji and Ethiopia Ratify ABS Protocol

                The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has reported that India ratified the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from their Utilization (ABS) to the CBD in October 2012, during the 11th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 11) to the CBD. Fiji and Ethiopia also acceded to the Protocol, on 24 October and 16 November 2012, respectively. The Nagoya Protocol will enter into force 90 days after the deposit of the 50th instrument of ratification.
