Brussels 24th May 2017- UNIDO in cooperation with BonelliErede and with the Italian Trade Agency, held a roundtable conference on Industrial Parks in Ethiopia.

The development of Industrial Parks is a priority of Ethiopia’s national development strategy and are expected to boost private sector engagement, of both foreign and domestic companies.

The round table aimed to explore, from a legal and tax perspective, how to carry out the investment in Industrial Parks, and how to deal with incentives and with the regulation applicable to a plant that is up and running. The objective was to provide a better understanding of the Industrial Parks to international investors and illustrate the underlying opportunities, particularly for those companies focused on agro-industrial, industrial, leather and pharmaceuticals.

The program focused on the various types of industrial parks. The first speeches were held both by H.E. Dr. Mebratu Meles – State Minister of the Ethiopian Ministry of Trade - Ethiopian Government and Mr. Christophe Yvetot UNIDO representative to the European Union.

 

The Head of Italian Trade Office at Addis Ababa and the BonelliErede’s representatives also held a speech about Ethiopia and the tax and legal framework.

And finally, the representatives form international investors described one of the investment successfully carried out.
