TOWARDS THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

«Brussels Dialogue» is an international youth dialogue platform, created in 2019 by the Russian House Brussels-Europe.
The first forum took place on 26 October 2019 and gathered more than 300 participants. The event aroused great interest among European and Belgian youth. Topics covered included: academic diplomacy, public diplomacy, economic future, new technologies.
In 2020, in the year of the 75th anniversary of Victory and the end of the Second World War and the 75th anniversary of the United Nations, the second forum "Brussels Dialogue" was held on 9-10 October 2020 (in online format). The Forum was dedicated to the preservation of historical memory, as well as to the role of international cooperation within the UN and the Council of Europe and the role of youth in the 21st century to ensure and develop world peace established after World War II.
The online format of the event allowed it to reach a large audience: more than 5,000 views on social media, an audience reach of more than 25,000 accounts. More than 200 participants from 40 countries registered for the event.
Forum 2021 will focus on the theme of preserving the planet and achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals announced by the United Nations. The Forum will explore Russian and European practices in the implementation of the SDGs, especially those related to the themes of affordable education, health care, environmental protection and combating climate change, and will be a call to action for young people.
The main goal of the Forum is to promote dialogue between young people from Russia and European countries, and creation of a common cultural, scientific, information and educational space, inviting the youth of European countries to cooperate with peers from Russia.

Case-study session #ForesightYOUTH “Looking forward better world. Youth sustainable initiatives”
Foresight session is a long-term forecasting technology, a way to build a coherent, balanced and responsible image of the future. It is based on technologies for working with large expert panels. At the same time, a combination of various methods and technologies of work ensures the formation of a coherent idea of the probabilistic future - lists of promising technologies, development scenarios, probabilistic products, etc. The result of the Foresight is a general image of the future that is clear and acceptable to all participants.
Forum participants in teams will predict various scenarios for the future and will review the activities in the field of SDGs and United Nations in 2030.

Discussion platform SDG #YouthLAB No. 1 “The role of volunteering in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals”
Description: World is still struggling multidimensional challenges of COVID-19 and it might seem that implementation of SDGs goals are becoming more complicated to achieve. The lifes of young people were impacted in every region of the world and faced new difficulties related with access to medicine, health, food, decent work, decrease of household income, access to quality education and many others. The distance learning and social isolation became "new normality". At the same time many youth and student organisations came together and created common respond, leading volunteering projects in different fields. Big companies implemented many important corporate projects to struggle new challenges and in favour of sustainable development and towards green economy.

Discussion platform SDG #YouthLAB No. 2 "Environment and community is our common responsibility"
Description: The protection of our planet and building of "better" world needs many efforts in different spheres. During the thematic breakout will be discussed the integrated approaches to achieve SDGs in the field of climate goals, sustainable infrastructure development, building smart cities and inclusive societies, advancing science, technology and innovation. We will have case studies by Belgian and Russian SMEs, smart business accelerators and NGOs activities to advance greener and more sustainable infrastructure, and present the role of youth in decision-making.
