Discussion details

Dear,

Please be informed that the EU Delegation to South Sudan is looking for a dynamic and resilient contract agent to join the rural development and economic governance section. The contract agent will join a small team covering a broad area of interventions, including public financial management, agricultural food security information systems, extension services, feeder roads, value chain development, and land policy. The prospective candidate would be expected to take over the economic governance part of the portfolio, but also manage some projects more typically associated with rural development. Ideally, the candidate would have a formal qualification in economics or agricultural economics, but a background in engineering would equally greatly complement the skill set of the current team. While NGOs and international organisations are currently the dominant implementing partners, key objectives over the medium term are the strengthening of government systems and the private sector to ensure service delivery in the rural areas. South Sudan provides for a challenging work station, but this is compensated by frequent rest leaves (5 per year) and a high cost of living allowance. This is an exciting opportunity to work in the world's newest country.

Note that only candidates with a valid CAST (relex, 2008, 25) are eligible for a posting in a Delegation. Applications for the new database are valid only at HQ.
