Energy Climate House, a division of the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS), a Brussels based European policy research institute, has an immediate vacancy for a (Senior) Research Fellow – “EU Energy Markets”

We are seeking an experienced, motivated (Senior) Research Fellow, mainly focussing on the EU internal energy markets as well as on various aspects of the transition towards low-carbon energy systems.

About the position:

The successful candidate will lead the CEPS Energy Climate House’s work on markets while working on several projects of the CEPS Energy Climate House related to electricity market design, support policies for renewables, the 2030 climate & energy governance framework, the competitiveness of energy-intensive industries and the economics of innovative energy technologies.

She or he will be part of a team of approximately 15 researchers. Qualifications:

 PhD or master’s degree in energy economics or other European and energy related studies

 Very good understanding of the functioning of EU electricity and gas markets and related policy and legislation, proven by previous academic and working experience

 Ability to lead a team

 Background and interest in European energy policy and familiarity with EU institutions

 Good networking and organisational skills

 Excellent drafting and presentation skills

 Fluency in spoken and written English is indispensable

Main tasks:

 Research and publications on EU and global energy markets

 Quality control for a small team of junior researchers

 Communication and outreach activities such as op-eds, briefings, (live) interviews but also the management of conferences and seminars

 Develop the work of CEPS Energy Climate House on markets including fundraising with the help of the Director

Seniority and compensation will be adjusted according to qualifications.

The post starts as early as mid-July 2016 for an initial duration of 1 year to be extended upon demand/performance.
