Discussion details

Created 18 March 2011

SNV (The Netherlands Development organisation) and The Broker invite you to participate in an online discussion about capacity development. As food for thought, the organisers recommend to read Capacity Development in Practice, edited by Jan Ubels, Naa-aku Acquaye-Baddoo and Alan Fowler. Based on the long-standing field experiences of SNV and other development practitioners; the book reflects upon the challenges of capacity building for impact. The entire publication is available to download for free, as are the separate chapters. Click here to download Capacity Development in Practice.

The online debate will allow to share your opinion on ‘capacity development’ as a core element in development efforts. The organisers hope to highlight significant advances and challenges to both the theory and practice of CD. A key theme may also be the move from working with single organisations to addressing multi-actor systems. The ‘CD fatigue’ among donor agencies and others can be another point of conversation.
