ENPI CBC Med Programme, with the financial assistance of the European Union, has published its "Mediterraenan Stories" in the areas of cultural heritage and sustainable tourism. The publication highlights the challenges, achievements and benefits of more than 20 projects dealing with the management of cultural heritage and promotion of sustainable tourism, all financially supported by the Programme.

Among these projects are:

ArcheoMed Sites (involving Italy, Tunisia, Lebanon) and ArcheoMed (Jordan, Palestine, Sicily), aimed at improving management of ancient archaeological sites;

SlowMed (Italy, Portugal, Spain, Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine), an effort at saving an ancient tradition: the healthy Mediterranean diet;

Medneta (Greece, Italy, Lebanon, Palestine, Spain, Tunisia), which encourages young people to revive ancient crafts,

Nostoi (France, Italy, Tunisia), which supports creative new performances in ancient places;

ShMILE 2 (Egypt, France, Greece, Italy, Jordan, Tunisia), addressing sustainable tourism directly, by helping hotels turn environmental-awareness into a moneymaking asset;

MEET (Egypt, France, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Spain), seeking to bring tourists closer to nature while preserving - and perhaps even restoring - the environment;

The ENPI CBC Med Programme serves 14 participating countries including Cyprus, Egypt, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Malta, Palestine, Portugal, Spain, Syria (participation currently suspended) and Tunisia.

Projects supported by the ENPI CBC Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme focus primarily on promotion of socio-economic development and enhancement of territories, environmental sustainability at basin level, cultural dialogue and local governance, and better conditions and modalities for ensuring the mobility of persons, goods, and capitals.
