MEETING BETWEEN DIRECTORS OF THE  CARDER AND CORPONOR

Pereira, September 19 /2012 (CARDER.) - The director of the Regional Autonomous Corporation of Risaralda CARDER, Juan Manuel Alvarez Villegas, met with his counterpart from CORPONOR, Luis Lizcano Contreras to discuss about the project positioning forest governance in Colombia, an initiative funded by the European Union and led by CARDER.

During the meeting reviewed the implementation of the Annual Work Plan of the Project in its second year of implementation, analyzed the progress and results achieved in the jurisdiction of the Corporation, and to explore the technical and managerial mechanisms to consolidate the processes of forest governance in the department of Norte de Santander.

Also, it was a special issue on the technical support process that advances the project with Forest producers from Palmarito (Cúcuta) who are receiving support to start a process of Voluntary Forest Certification.

From CARDER and central equipment of the project, considered that this group of beneficiaries has high potential for forest certification to natural forests, becoming one of the first initiatives in obtaining this mention in the country.

In the coming days the Doctor Juan Manuel Alvarez hopes to visit all the Directors of the Corporations of the project, in order to present the results achieved and the technical products produced during the development time of the action.

Alvarez Villegas said that visits seek to strengthen linkages and institutional cohesion, which is vital for optimum performance and the successful completion of all objectives.
