A new initiative to be launched by the Co-operative University of Kenya (CUK)
Discussion details
One of the thematic areas discussed during the first Africa Regional PFD which the Alliance Africa and its members wish to build upon was the enabling environment for the implementation and monitoring of the implementation of the SDGs by and for co-operatives.
It was agreed that training institutions such as the Co-operative University of Kenya (CUK) could design a curriculum specifically on the SDGs related to co-operatives, and develop a generic tool for monitoring the implementation of those SDGs that can be adapted and adopted by the different countries in Africa. This will increase engagement in the monitoring of implementation prior to 2030. Developing the curriculum and tool will require the elaboration of a set of indicators with which to measure sustainability, and a plan as to how the co-operative movement in Africa will be able to track progress.
