Discussion details

We are delighted to announce the publication of two complementary papers developed by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA) on the role of the private sector in reducing inequalities through the Global Gateway strategy:

🔹 A comprehensive report“Reducing Inequality through Global Gateway: A Strategic Role for the Private Sector”
🔹 A condensed version: Ideal for rapid consultation, summarising key messages and operational recommendations.

These publications explore how private sector engagement can either reduce or exacerbate socio-economic disparities—and more importantly, what conditions and safeguards are needed to ensure inclusive outcomes across the five Global Gateway strategic sectors: digital, energy, transport, health, and education.

They also provide:

  • Concrete policy guidance for EU staff with sector-specific Do’s and Don’ts to ensure equity and impact;
  • Case studies showcasing effective models from Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia;

These documents should not be considered as representative of DG INTPA’s official position.

We look forward to engaging with you on how to make inequality reduction a defining objective of private sector mobilisation under Global Gateway.
