Discussion details

As illustrated in various best practices and projects covered by the RNSF project, cooperative approaches lead a first formalization of informal workers. In fact, by regrouping in a common structure often legally and formally recognized, informal workers are more likely to be protected against labour abuse and other kind of risks related to informality.

Cooperatives plays a key role in developing countries, fostering stability and progress. However, they still face difficulties in attracting funds to grow and offer more services to their members. An initiative tries to address this major issue: the Global Cooperative Impact fund, which aims to create a system providing long-term financing while improving the cooperative spirit.

DEVCO dedicates its next InfoPoint session to the Global Cooperative Impact fund on Wednesday, 21th of November from 12:30 to 14:00. It can be attended online by live streaming or in Brussels upon free registration.

InfoPoint sessions are conferences on European external cooperation organised by DEVCO and its partners in development for the general public, the development community and the staff of the European institutions to stimulate debate and exchange of ideas.

The event will focus on the importance of investing in cooperatives both looking at the evidence of success and lessons learned from current Investment Funds and looking at the future by presenting this new initiative and its socio-economic value.
