PEA in EuropeAid

Understanding the political economy of the countries and sectors in which we work is a necessary part of effective development cooperation. Finding the best approach to analysing political economy remains an important methodological concern. Drawing the lessons of the first generation of PEAs which have come to an end, EuropeAid aims to ensure embedding analysis of political economy in the daily work of EU Delegation staff.

EuropeAid will focus its internal guidance and training for EU staff on this, taking into account the pressures which staff working on the front line may be under.
