PGFC participates in Regional Forum Guadua

On 4 March, the Director of the Regional Autonomous Corporation of Risaralda, Juan Manuel Alvarez Villegas, head of the project positioning of forest governance in Colombia, participated in the regional forum on Guadua "Perspectives and Sustainable Uses," which was organized by the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development.
 The event was attended by the Minister of Environment, Juan Gabriel  Uribe, who stressed the importance to generate strategies to ensure  support for production processes that emerge from the use of Guadua, but  doing so required to ensure sustainable resource management and  conservation to future.
Among the topics presented during the forum project include: goals and achievements made during the years of implementation, forest statistics 2011-2012 CAR members and development of unified standard for the Management and Use of Guadua.
 The project made clear its position on the regularization of the  resource as a means to preserve and ensure that environmental services  are offered by Guadua continue giving in the region. He also highlighted  the achievements that have been made since the implementation of the  standard.
 Notably, the unified standard for the Management and Use of Guadua was  built in a participatory process involving different actors in the  supply chain. It was developed as a strategy to unify criteria between  the CAR of the departments where the forest resource grows.
