Planned Social Media Priorities for Week of October 21 - 25, 2013

Dear colleagues,

Please find below the planned social media priorities for this week, 5 weeks ahead of EDD13.

As always, you are more than welcome to share any upcoming content of yours relevant to the EDD13 themes, which you are interested in having the other members share. 

Monday, October 21:

Announcement of Catherine Ashton EDD confirmation

Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission has confirmed her attendance at EDD13 where she will deliver a Special Address on Wednesday 27 November. Monday’s focus will thus be on Ashton and will link to the “speakers” page on the website. 

Tuesday, October 22:

Video contest voting

With less than two weeks left before our Facebook video contest wraps up our focus is now on getting as many people as possible to vote for their favourite video. Any help spreading the word about this will be highly appreciated. The deadline for both submissions and votes is 1 November. 

Wednesday, October 23:

Africa-EU Civil Society Forum/Development partnerships

Wednesday’s focus will be on the Africa-EU Civil Society Forum being held in Brussels from Wednesday to Friday in advance of the Africa-EU Summit to be held in April next year. The forum will be attended by civil society representatives from Europe and Africa who will discuss their priorities for the AU-EU partnership, and as such, we will use this occasion to draw attention to the EDD13 theme “Towards a new partnership for development”.  

Thursday, October 24:

United Nations Day/Announcements of Jan Eliasson and other UN representatives

Thursday is United Nations Day and a day to recognize the institution’s contribution to a peaceful and stable world. In this connection we’ll announce the attendance to EDD13 of Jan Eliasson, Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, in addition to representatives from UNHCR, UN Women, UNCCD and UN-Habitat, among others, and will link to the list of attending VIPs on the EDD website.

Friday, October 25:

Video contest voting

With just seven days to go until our video contest wraps up, Friday’s focus will again be on securing votes for the different submissions.
