Preparations for Rio+20 continue

Preparations for Rio+20 continue. Initial discussions on the "zero draft" of the outcome document have just been completed.

Another interesting development is the recent presentation of the new blueprint for sustainable development and low-carbon prosperity, prepared by a 22-member Panel, established by the UN Secretary-General in August 2010. Co-chaired by Finnish President Tarja Halonen and South African President Jacob Zuma their report, "Resilient People, Resilient Planet: A Future Worth Choosing", contains 56 recommendations to put sustainable development into practice and to mainstream it into economic policy as quickly as possible.
