Putting People and Planet first - a civil society vision for the post 2015 global development framework
Discussion details
As 2015 approaches, the world faces global challenges that are ever more complex, severe and interlinked, such as climate change, food insecurity, environmental degradation and economic crises, while inequalities in and between countries are deepening.
For the CONCORD-Beyond 2015 European Task Force*, business as usual is not an option.
A new far-reaching global framework is needed post 2015 which engages all actors to address the root causes of our common challenges and is a single, comprehensive framework based on the three dimensions of sustainable development, plus just governance. The position paper, launched on 2 May in Brussels at a high level panel with Commissioner Piebalg and Commissioner Potocnik, emphasises "A just and sustainable world in which peoples' rights are progressively realised, that they may fulfill their potential and live free from poverty".
In addition to four proposed goal areas, the position paper emphasises a number of principles on which a new global framework should deliver:
- well-being as a measure of individual and national progress
- structural change
- sustainability now and in the future
- policy coherence for development
- a universal framework with universal goals
- common but differentiated responsibility

Hello Sally,
I'm working on Post 2015 and was wondering whether the Concord group has done a review of the UN High Level Panel report that was released about a month ago (I posted it in this group). What the NGOs think about the goals proposed in that report?
best wishes,
Laura
Dear Laura,
An analysis of the HLP report was produced by the Beyond 2015 international campaign and can be found at the following link:
